Robots

This is an easy magnetic play set that I made back in August. I started by collecting about fifteen aluminum cans and plastic bottle caps in a variety of colors and sizes. I also found large googly eyes and small plastic slinkies at the dollar store. Using a hot glue gun, I glued magnets onto the googly eyes, slinkies, and bottle caps. We haven't used this play set since November so when I brought it out this week it was like having a new toy.

Everyone was interested in making robots and we had a lot of fun with them.

Magnet Fun

We use magnets to hang art in our classroom. Today, while I was switching out the art, one of the children asked if he could see a magnet. I showed him how it sticks to metal. Soon all of the children were asking for magnets. They went around the room looking for metal objects to put their magnets on. Here are some of the metal things we found.

The grate on the bathroom door.

The screw on the toilet paper holder.

The screw on the light switch.

A can.

We discovered that some magnets stick to each other.

And some do not.
